For this week’s discussion, you will examine the prevalence of food insecurity in the Imperial Valley and potential resources or groups trying to address it. Using the internet, search for data regarding the prevalence of food insecurity in the Imperial Valley. How do we know it is present? What factors do we see in our community that might clue us in to it being an issue within our own community? Next, locate at least one organization or group that is focused on addressing and/or reducing food insecurity in the Imperial Valley. Do they use volunteers? If able to locate the information, how do they fund themselves (grant, community donations, etc.).

In a well written discussion post, address the following questions:

• Describe the data and indicators that you were able to find regarding food insecurity in the Imperial Valley
• Describe atleast one current resource or organization that is helping to address food insecurity in the Imperial Valley.
• What role does our local food bank play in helping to reduce food insecurity in the Imperial Valley?
