Objective 1: Improve my skills in performing comprehensive history, and psychosocial assessment including functional assessment on patients.

 

Planned Activities: identification of potential mental and behavioral disorders

 

PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:

 

· Continue with comprehensive mental assessment on all patient encounters

· interprets results of mental status exam, be comfortable in asking open ended questions with patients why maintaining eye contact and professionalism and be non-judgmental

 

Objective 2: Brush up selection of Pharmacotherapeutic skills with patients.

 

Planned Activities: use evidence based clinical practice guidelines for selecting appropriate medication for individualized mental health disorders and use my preceptor as a guide

· Educate patient regarding their diagnosis and medication regimen effectiveness

· Inform patients about potential side effects and dietary awareness or restrictions

· Schedule follow up laboratory work up needed for specific medications

 

Objective 3: Develop good diagnostic reasoning and selecting appropriate differential diagnosis

 

 

Planned Activities: Appertain advanced assessment skills with psychiatric differential diagnosis.

· prioritize the correct diagnosis through assessment and using evidence-based practice guidelines such as the DSM-V.
