• Introduce yourself to your peers by sharing something unique about your background. Explain how you expect this course will help you move forward in your current or future career.
• Think about what you think religion is. Next, ask five people what their definition of religion is. Then, look up a definition of religion from outside of the book (cite your source). Now, read the definition of religion in the textbook.
  • Based on the text, discussions, and external resources to help define religion, which of the three approaches to religion—Materialist, Functional, or Faith—helps explain problems you may have encountered defining religion?
  • Cite the source or sources you used to answer these questions.
